Entrepreneurial route

Are you ready to launch your own business?

The Entrepreneurial Route is referring to creating and scaling a business, either on your own or with co-founders, and spending 100% of your working life dedicated to growing your company. It doesn’t matter whether you bootstrap or raise funding, whether you hire a team straight away or once you’re generating revenue, you decide.

It doesn’t mean that you need to have an idea right now to prefer this route. You can still do a lot to put the foundations in place to give yourself the best chance of being successful. You can do this at any point in your career or even in school, there are no barriers to entry.
You're in a senior position, either as a leader or as an individual contributor, permanently employed by a business, small, medium or large. You need to know what the roles at the top of an organisation do day-to-day to understand which one you want to position yourself for.

Bear in mind that the roles will change depending on the size of an organisation as well as their funding.

You should also consider the different options that would be available to you in the future. If you’re in product, you could easily make the move into general management, CPTO, COO, Chief Digital Officer or even a CEO role.

PORTFOLIO Route

Turn Your Vision into Reality

The Portfolio Route is a newer concept that has become far more popular in the last few years. Another term that has also become popularised recently is fractional, which is where you advise multiple companies at the same time. Fractional work can absolutely be part of the Portfolio Route, but it doesn’t have to be the only thing. You could do speaking engagements, lecturing, have a side hustle or run training sessions.

Fractional engagements can range from one day per quarter to 3 days per week, but you need to have previously been in a leadership seat as VP or at C-Suite. For companies, it's a flexible and affordable way to bring in extremely experienced people.
